Last week Megan over at Writing Out Loud blogged about finding your passion. I always love Megan’s insightful thoughts and this certainly got me thinking…
Do you find your passion or does it find you?
I think it is probably different for everyone. Some people stumble across their passion through chance or simply the life. Others know what their passion is from an early age. And then some search long and hard for it, perhaps even passing it by unaware before rediscovering it later down the track.
As I commented on Megan’s blog post I think the best way to find our passion or at least tap into it, is to ask ourselves: ‘What makes me, me?’
Something that you never tire of doing. Something you could see yourself doing for the rest of your life. Something that if money was no object you would still be or definitely be doing. That one one thing when you do it it brings you to a calm, peaceful place. It strokes your hair and warms your insides. It makes you smile without even trying. It steals countless hours from you without you caring. It keeps you awake at night, but in a good way.
That is your passion. And it is what makes you, you. You don’t need to find it, it is already there. Perhaps we just need to be on the right mindset to see it clearly enough to embrace it.
As for making a career out of your, that’s a whole different ball game. Some can, some can’t. But what we all can do is make it part of our lives. Embrace it. Nurture it. And let it do the same for you.
What do you think?
Do you find your passion, or does it find you?
