Where do you draw your inspiration from?

As a writer I draw my inspiration from things around me. As Jon Bon Jovi once said, –  “If you are open to it, there’s a song around you everyday.” The same is true for a story. Stories are all around us, we just need to write them – which is certainly easier said than done!

For the most part I tend to draw my inspiration from the everyday. Human stories full of real emotion, humour and vulnerability. And a lot of where I write comes from visual images, not only the everyday, but the amazing images that we are fortunate enough to be able to see at the click of a mouse.

The Internet can be a wonderful place for sourcing images for inspiration and lately the old world style and charm of movie stars from yesteryear has caught my attention. Pinterest, also known as one of the biggest time saps in history, is an amazing place for sourcing visual inspiration of which I tend to do a little too often. However, as long as I convince myself it is ‘research’ and ‘honing my craft’ I figure why not?

Here are some glorious images from my Pinterest Board which have that old world style, grace and charm…
