The One Thing…

After my last post where I spoke about my frustrations of procrastination and loss of motivation, I must say I’ve had a good few days. I sent off four pitches, one which was pitched, commissioned and published in the same day, and I’ve done some more work on draft two of my manuscript. And, helping me today with this blog post is Kelly from A Life Less Frantic. Last Friday, she posted a list of questions and answers on her blog, which I have stolen borrowed. So thanks Kelly!

Here goes…

The one thing I should do less often is: get distracted. Lately I just can’t seem to keep my focus on anything. I really need to revisit my word for the year to remind myself what’s important, and to be in the moment 100% as much as possible.

The one thing I should do more often is: step outside my comfort zone in all areas of my life. I know I can do it, I just need a little extra push to finally take that step sometimes.

The one thing that always makes me smile is: watching my girls sleep. Seeing there perfect, unique faces sound asleep makes my heart swell to almost bursting point.

The one thing that does my head in is: Rudeness. There is just no need for it. Ever.

The one thing I should eat more of is: Fruit. It’s not that I don’t like fruit, I just don’t like how messy it is! I would struggle to eat three pieces a week. Yes, I know. Bad. I did have an orange today though 🙂

The one thing I can do to make the world a better place is: raise my kids with manners and teach them respect and acceptance.

The one thing I need to remind myself is: to slow down. I’m always on the go and find it hard to just stop. I have so much I want to do, but cramming it all in at the expense of quietness isn’t the answer.

The one thing I should do for myself right now is: get some sleep! I think this was the same answer as Kelly’s! The last three weeks especially have been shocking as I’ve tortured myself watching the Tour de France till 2am most mornings, and then up at 6am! In a way I’m thankful it’s over and I can get a decent nights sleep again.

The one thing I should say ‘no’ more often to is: I’m actually quite good at saying ‘no’ to things that I need to say no to, but if there was one thing it would be my kids. Sometimes it is easier to say yes and avoid melt-downs but I know they need to value the word no and the reasons why.

The one thing I should say ‘yes’ more often to is: social engagements. The shy introvert, and socially anxious and awkward me almost always screams no. But I need to remind myself nine times out of ten I will end up having a good time.
