Where have all the good bloggers gone?

It’s true. I do spend a lot of time reading blogs. I guess it’s not something to be ashamed of, apart from the copious amounts of time that probably should be spent doing other things like writing, but I see it is inspiration.  A little peak into someones headspace, a fleeting glance into their life without feeling like a stalker.

For me reading blogs can be a mix of self-discovery, entertainment, learning, inspiration and research. But lately I’m a little lost.

I feel like the blogging world is a little limp at the moment. There’s the big bloggers shouting their social conscience, the sponsored bloggers endlessly uploading sponsored content and plugging the newest, latest fad/gadget/item, there’s even fictitious sponsored posts (those that pretend to be but they aren’t – what the??) and then the day to day bloggers blogging about anything and everything. Not that there is anything wrong with any of those scenarios. That’s the thing I love about blogs – they are individual expressions and the writer is in full control of where they are heading.

Not all is lost. There are of course my favourite blogs who continually spew out brilliant writing and thought provoking posts that make me both inspired and envious at the same time. But for the thousands and thousands of blogs out there, it seems the brilliant ones are few and far between.

I’ve been blogging in one form or another for about five years and over that time I have seen some major changes in the blogosphere, some good, some not so. I’ve also found that blogs are like relationships. They start off with a bang as you discover fantastic new writing and ideas that you resonate with, and then, as with life, people change. I change, they change, their blogging changes and we tend to grow apart. It happens. And perhaps I’m more fussy these days with what I want from a blog; I’m not satisfied with mundane mumblings anymore.

So right now I’m in search of some new blog fodder.

I want brilliant writing that leaps off the page and dances around my head.

I want eye opening, thought provoking content that speaks to me.

I want practical advice that I can use in my life right now.

And most of all I want personality, individuality, heart and uniqueness.

Surely that’s not asking too much?

So hit me!

Who/what is your favourite blog right now and why should I check them out!
