What's your crazy dream job?
Last week I was listening to Kelly and Brooke's Let It Be podcast where they were answering listener questions. One inquisitive listener asked the girls, 'If you could do any job in the world (other than what you do now - even if it's your dream job!), what would it be?'Interesting question right? I particularly loved Kelly's answer of a tennis mum! lolRight now I love what I do. I'm writing creatively, blogging and doing a little copywriting/proof reading on the side. My ultimate dream job is to be a prolific best selling author, but the reality is, about 0.00001%* of published authors are both best selling and prolific. (*not actual figure, but I'm sure it's not far off).But, if I didn't want to write what would I love to do? I've come up with a few serious, and not so serious scenarios. Freelance sports psychologistAt school, psychology was one of my favourite subjects. And as you can see from my ramblings on this blog, I still love trying digging deep and trying to understand and manipulate the human psyche. I love sports too. So this one seems a no-brainer. I'd be that sought after sports psychologist who the super stars of sport call in on for the big occasions. Roger Federer - I'd help him win another grand slam. Richie Porte - I'd get inside his head and help him overcome the Pyrenees and the French Alps to win the Tour de France. I'd be called in to talk to the Diamonds before taking on the Silver Ferns. I'd accompany the Aussie Olympic team every four years and be on call 24/7 for the athletes. And Nick Kyrious? - I'm looking at you. Man I could help you. World famous rock starIf I could sing, play an instrument or two and write songs this one could be possible right? Sadly, I'm not gifted or talented at any of those things, so as much as I love the idea of it, this one would never have been a reality.(Sad fact: in 1989 at the age of 13 I almost convinced my best friend to join with me in sending off a demo to a record company. She wasn't up for it. Smart girl.) ActressThis is actually what I wanted to pursue in the last years of school before my plans got derailed jointly by 'love' and my VCE careers advisor. I don't think it was out of the question. I can act. Perhaps I'm a little introverted to be a personality, but put me on stage as someone else and I can be anyone. I regret not seeing where it could take me. Who knows? Surely I would have made it onto Neighbours or Home & Away (have you seen what they class as 'talent'?). Who knows, I could have been the next Cate Blanchett or Nicole Kidman. Motivational MentorHow awesome would it be to travel the world and motivate people? Not in a Tony Robbins kind of way, more along the lines of Liz Gilbert and Brene Brown. I love the psychology behind mentoring people and helping them be the best they can be. I love inspiring out of the square thinking and getting others to see the potential in themselves. One day, after I'm a published author, (best selling of course) , I would love to mentor unpublished writers. Heck, I'd do it now if I had more credibility, but I better wait until I walk the walk, not just talk the talk! So tell me...
