What is Write Squad?
Write Squad (originally Write Club) began in April 2022 as a way to bring together writers who want to get the words down and alleviate the solitary nature of writing.
Every Thursday morning and either Monday or Tuesday evenings on my Instagram I hit the live button and a squad of writers join me online. We chat for a few minutes about our writing goals for the session and then I hit the timer and we write for around 50 minutes. During this time, I stay ‘live on air’ working on my writing and you work on your project at your own desk. And because you’re not on camera, you can even be in your pyjamas - no one will ever know! As I’m live on screen I’m usually not in my pyjamas, but it is like we are in the same room together. You can leave the sound on and listen to my fingers tapping away at the keys or pen scribbling on paper (and the occasional dog barking and cat smooching in the background), or you can mute your sound for writing time. Then after our writing time is up, we reconvene for another chat. Usually we have a topic to chat about or you can ask any question to me or others in the group.
Write Squad is open to anyone wanting to feel less alone while writing. It can be such a solitary job writing a book and this way, it feels more like sharing the journey together.
Write Squad is great for getting the words down, connecting with other writers and sharing the journey. And it is entirely free. There’s no subscription, no level of commitment and no need to ‘sign up’. You simply schedule it in your diary and switch on Facebook or Insta for Write Squad each week.
You can join one or both, or just pop in and out when you can. You’ll get lots of words down and make some wonderful and likeminded writing friends.
I’d love to see you there, so follow me on Instagram, where I host the event and you’ll see a schedule of upcoming Write Squads.
