Opening Chapter Feedback
COMING IN 2025!!
Your opening chapter is arguably the most important part of your novel. Not only is it the start of your novel and showcases your writing, but it needs to hook the reader and entice them to read on.
I will read and offer feedback on your opening chapter (up to 5,000 words) focusing on things such as:
Clarity
Setting, character and pace
Set up of your story and most importantly your hook
Voice
Plot forward
Genre & target audience
You will receive a fully marked up document in return as well as suggestions and feedback on what's working well and what areas you can tweak to create a first chapter that captivates the reader and makes them want to read more!
You will also have the option of a 30 minute one-one zoom session with me to discuss the feedback.
If you:
Are in the final stages of drafting
Preparing your manuscript for querying/submission
Preparing for self-publishing
Then this is perfect for you.
You will be required to submit a synopsis (up to 600 words) as well as your first chapter.
